Mat Pilates Certification

Mat Pilates Certification Program

The Core Arts Pilates Mat Certification Program teaches classical Pilates mat work — the method as it was designed and as it has been passed down through the Romana Kryzanowska lineage. You will learn how to teach a mat class that produces real results across a range of body types, how to identify alignment and balance issues, and how to adapt the work thoughtfully without losing what makes it effective.

This program is built for movement professionals who are ready to teach mat Pilates with real competence. Fitness instructors, yoga teachers, dance educators, and dedicated Pilates practitioners all find a home here. Two options are available so you can choose the one that fits your schedule and your learning style.

Two Ways to Get Certified

Standard Group Sessions

The Standard Group Sessions option is a three-session program delivered live via Zoom. All three sessions are required for completion. After finishing the program, candidates have six months to sit for the practical examination.

Before your exam, every candidate completes two full practice sessions with Core Arts faculty. These are structured preparation, not optional check-ins. We use them to make sure you are genuinely ready before you test, and that care shows in the quality of the instructors we send out into the world.

Prerequisites:

  • 20 Pilates sessions or classes completed prior to program start
  • At least 5 of those sessions or classes completed at Core Arts Pilates

Upcoming Dates

  • July 12, July 19 and July 26, 2026

This certification requires commitment for all scheduled days. No exceptions.

Tuition: Contact us for details for regular and early bird pricing (before June 24).

Independent Study Option

The Independent Study Option is for candidates who cannot work around a fixed program schedule, or who simply prefer the focused experience of working one-on-one with the director. Training takes place directly with Sharmila Mitra, either online via Zoom or in-person at the studio, and can be completed in as few as three to four sessions. The certification awarded is identical to the Standard Group Sessions.

Candidates are responsible for arranging their own practice partner throughout training — someone who can serve as your practice body and who is not a current Core Arts client. This is a program requirement.

Every candidate, regardless of which option they choose, completes the same two structured practice sessions with Core Arts faculty before testing.

Prerequisites:

  • 20 Pilates sessions or classes completed prior to program start
  • At least 5 of those sessions or classes completed at Core Arts Pilates

Tuition: Contact us for details.

Format: Online via Zoom or in-person · Flexible start

A Natural First Step Toward Full Classical Certification

The Mat Pilates Certification Program is where many of our classical certification candidates begin. It offers a meaningful introduction to the method, a lower time commitment, and a clear sense of whether the classical track is the right next step for you.

Candidates who earn their Core Arts mat certification and later enroll in the 600-Hour Program or the Independent Study Option (Classical Certification) receive a $500 tuition credit applied at enrollment. There is no expiration on this credit. Mat certification hours do not count toward classical program prerequisites, but the foundation you build here travels with you.
