Every session at Core Arts begins the same way: with a real conversation about your body, your history, and what you are actually trying to accomplish.
From there, we build something specific to you.
Classical Pilates
Core Arts teaches classical Pilates the way Joseph Pilates developed it, following the full sequence on every major piece of apparatus: the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, High Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector. Our instruction follows the Romana Kryzanowska lineage, which means the method is intact, not adapted or modernized to fit a trend.
All sessions are private or semi-private. There are no large group classes. Your instructor’s attention is on you for the entire session.
Pilates Privates
One instructor, one client, one hour of undivided attention. Private sessions are the fastest and most precise way to make progress, whether you are new to Pilates or have been practicing for years. Your instructor assesses your body at every session and adjusts accordingly.
- Full use of all apparatus
- Appropriate for all levels, including complete beginners
- Ideal for clients with injuries, complex conditions, or specific performance goals
Pilates Semi-Privates
Duet sessions with one other client. Semi-privates offer focused instruction in a shared format, and are a favorite for clients who train with a friend, family member, or training partner.
- Two clients, one instructor
- Customized to both clients’ needs within the same session
- More economical than privates while maintaining instructional quality
Pilates Intensives
A combination of classical mat work and full apparatus training in a small group setting. Maximum four people per class. Intensives move at a rigorous pace and are best suited to clients who have an established Pilates foundation.
Pilates Bootcamp
For advanced practitioners ready to push their practice. Bootcamp covers mat, Reformer, and Cadillac/tower work at a demanding pace. Not recommended as a starting point for new clients.
Online Classes via Zoom
Core Arts has offered online private sessions since 2013, well before remote instruction became standard practice in the industry. Our online clients receive the same quality of instruction as in-studio clients, adapted for the equipment and space available to them at home.
Online sessions are available for Pilates, GYROTONIC®, and BodyStrategies™. We currently serve online clients across the United States and internationally.
GYROTONIC®
GYROTONIC® is a movement system built on circular, spiraling patterns that follow the body’s natural range of motion. Where Pilates often works in linear planes, GYROTONIC® works in three dimensions: opening the joints, decompressing the spine, and developing a quality of movement that is fluid rather than mechanical.
It draws from principles in swimming, dance, yoga, and gymnastics, and uses specialized equipment that provides both support and resistance throughout the full arc of movement.
At Core Arts, GYROTONIC® private sessions are available in 30-minute and one-hour increments.
It is particularly effective for:
- Dancers and performers seeking three-dimensional mobility and artistry
- Clients managing spinal conditions including scoliosis, disc degeneration, and chronic back pain
- Post-surgical and post-injury rehabilitation
- Anyone whose movement has felt restricted, mechanical, or stuck
“If I have the time, I take Pilates mat classes, Gyrotonic privates using the reformers, and occasionally will run on the elliptical machine.”
– Misty Copeland, American Ballet Theatre
BodyStrategiesTM for Dancers
BodyStrategies™ for Dancers is Core Arts’ signature dance conditioning program, created by Sharmila Mitra. It is a hands-on, personalized training practice that treats the dancer’s body as the athletic instrument it is.
The program draws from classical Pilates, current dance medicine principles, and Sharmila’s 25 years of working with dancers at every level, from pre-professional students to working professionals. The goal is not general fitness. It is specific, measurable improvement in how a dancer moves, performs, and recovers.
BodyStrategies™ addresses:
• Strength and muscular coordination specific to dance technique
• Balance, control, and turn quality
• Jump height and landing mechanics
• Injury prevention and recovery
• The physical demands of auditions, performances, and intensive training periods
BodyStrategies™ sessions are available year-round as private instruction. It is not a drop-in class.
