Core Arts Pilates in Anaheim Hills has been serving clients throughout Orange County for over 20 years — including a loyal and growing community of clients from Tustin who make the short drive for something they can’t find closer to home: genuine classical Pilates, taught in its original form, by instructors trained in the tradition that traces directly back to Joseph Pilates.
If you’ve tried Pilates before at a larger studio or gym and felt like something was missing — the depth, the precision, the sense that the session was truly designed for you — this is likely what was missing.
A Different Kind of Pilates Studio
The Pilates landscape in Orange County has expanded dramatically in recent years. Large-format reformer studios have opened throughout Tustin and the surrounding area, offering group classes at accessible price points. For many people, that’s a fine introduction to movement. But classical Pilates — the real thing — is something different in kind, not just in degree.
At Core Arts, we use the full apparatus Joseph Pilates designed: Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, High Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and more. We teach in the classical sequence. And every session is built around the individual — because that’s how the method was designed to work. Our principal instructor, Sharmila Mitra, trained directly under Romana Kryzanowska in New York in 1999, placing her within a lineage that fewer than a handful of instructors in Southern California can claim.
Services
Classical Pilates Private Sessions
The heart of what we do. You and your instructor, working through the full classical repertoire at a pace and depth calibrated entirely to you. Whether you’re recovering from a sedentary period, building on an existing practice, or training as an athlete, private sessions are where lasting change happens.
Semi-Private Sessions
Two clients, one instructor. A popular choice for Tustin clients who want to share the experience with someone they know while still receiving attentive, personalized instruction.
GYROTONIC® Method
A fluid, three-dimensional movement practice using specialized equipment. GYROTONIC® works the body through spiraling, wave-like patterns that increase joint mobility, strengthen the nervous system, and develop a quality of movement that Pilates alone — or any other modality — doesn’t quite replicate. Many of our Tustin clients train in both Pilates and GYROTONIC® and find the combination transformative.
BodyStrategies™ for Dancers
If you or your child is a dancer training in Tustin — at a local dance studio, school program, or competition team — BodyStrategies™ for Dancers is the cross-training program specifically designed for the demands of dance. Developed by Sharmila Mitra, it integrates classical Pilates with dance medicine research to build the kind of functional athleticism that dance training alone doesn’t always develop.
Coaching with Grace
For dancers and performers who want support that goes beyond the physical. Coaching with Grace is a premium 1:1 performance coaching practice led by Sharmila Mitra — drawing on her master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology and her methodology developed in The Power of Intention for Dancers. Available to Tustin clients in person or online.
Online Sessions via Zoom
Live private and semi-private Pilates instruction from your home. Core Arts has offered online sessions since 2013 — long before it became industry standard — and our online clients receive the same quality of instruction and personal attention as those in the studio.
Who Trains at Core Arts from Tustin
Our Tustin clients are a diverse group. Some are dancers — competitive youth dancers, adult recreational practitioners, and pre-professional students looking to cross-train intelligently. Some are athletes — runners, cyclists, golfers, and team sport players seeking the kind of deep core conditioning and movement quality that changes performance on the field or the course. And some are adults who simply want to move better, feel stronger, and age with more grace than the culture typically expects.
What they share is a desire for something more intentional than a group fitness class — and a willingness to invest in their body with the seriousness it deserves.

Frequently Asked Questions — Pilates Near Tustin
How far is Core Arts Pilates from Tustin?
Core Arts Pilates is in Anaheim Hills, approximately 15 minutes from Tustin via the 55 north to the 91 east. Many of our current clients make this commute regularly and consider it a non-issue given the quality of the instruction.
I’ve only done reformer classes at a group studio. Is Core Arts right for me?
Yes — and you may find the difference significant. Classical Pilates in a private or semi-private setting uses the full apparatus, not just the reformer, and every session is designed for your body specifically. Many clients who come to us from group studios find that they progress faster and feel results more deeply because the instruction is calibrated entirely to them.
Do you offer Pilates for seniors or people with physical limitations near Tustin?
Yes. Classical Pilates is one of the most adaptable movement practices available, and our instructors are trained to work with a wide range of physical backgrounds — including older adults, people managing chronic conditions, and those returning to movement after time away. We always recommend consulting with your physician before beginning, and we’re experienced at collaborating alongside medical guidance.
Is there a trial option or introductory session?
All new clients begin with a complimentary 1-on-1 consultation — a chance to see the studio, meet the instructor, and talk through the right program for you. Email or call us to arrange yours.
